Every so often I have this dream that I got new cable service or a new set-top box or something and I’m trying to figure out how to watch my shows. Like I can’t figure out what channel they come on, what time they come on, how to search for them, how to use the set-top box, how to set up the DVR to record them, or something is preventing me from watching.
Then I wake up and think “That’s a silly dream, brain, because in this day and age I can just watch whatever I want whenever I want.”
Sometimes it’s different shows but frequently the shows I’m trying to watch are, for some reason, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Sanford and Son, and… a true crime or mystery show that I can’t remember the name of. That’s often the reason I can’t find the last one, I can’t remember the name of it.
Last night I had the dream again but this time, within the dream I realized I was being silly. I can just watch all of these shows online. I found Winnie the Pooh, Sanford and Son… but not the last one, since I can’t remember the name to find it. I decided to just search for mystery and true crime shows, and look at the logos. But I couldn’t quite remember the logo. In my memory, it looked like this

Is this a nightmare? Not that the idea of being unable to watch Sanford and Son is scary – but I think I fear forgetting how to use electronics or how to learn to use new electronics. Like, getting dementia or alzheimer’s and forgetting that I can just watch whatever whenever online, or forgetting how to do it. Is that what the dream means I fear?
Even if so… in this day and age, I can just verbally tell my TV to start a show, or start a genre of show. So that’s silly, brain.
