There’s some music I can’t listen to in my house because it sets my dog Shelley off. Namely, anything with sleigh bells – because it sounds to her like a dog with a metal tag on their collar moving around – and anything with whistling or whistling-like sounds. I have no idea why whistling upsets her. Maybe because it sounds like whistling birds? But I don’t know if she doesn’t like the whistling because of the birds or if she doesn’t like the birds because of the whistling. She’s fine with clucking birds.
Anyway, because of that, there are some songs I only listen to in the car. The other day I pulled into a parking lot listening to Innocent Dance by TWO-MIX which has what I guess sounds like a catcall whistle. I parked, started looking at my list, making sure I had everything I needed before I got out etc. And a lady walking through the parking lot thought I was catcalling her and gave me the stinkeye! I didn’t want to stop the music, because then she really would think I had catcalled her. I figured she would realize it was music when it continued rhythmically and I wasn’t moving my mouth. But I guess she thought I was continuing to catcall her? Because she maintained eye contact with me while walking through the parking lot and her stinkeye got more and more angry.
I tried to telepathically tell her “Sorry ma’am it’s just the music” but I don’t think it worked. I don’t want to be like “pEoPlE (and dogs) tHeSe DaYs aRe tOo SeNsItIvE” but can I not listen to this song at all anymore lol
