Every day I lock my chickens up at 8:30pm, and let them out the next morning at 7am. This means that from 8:30pm – 7am they do not have access to food and water. I’m told this is normal and okay. But I’m nervous about it, especially in extreme heat like has been happening.

I have also been sick, like knock me down tired sick, and sometimes I will ask Alexa what time it is, figure I better get up, and then somehow when I get up it is two hours later. So I’m not really sure if I’m falling back asleep for two hours or just dreaming about asking what time it is.

This morning I had this dream (nightmare?): I somehow overslept and did not let the chickens out at 7am. I asked Alexa the time… it was 1:58pm. I must have slept through my alarm or something? So for 17 and a half hours, in extreme heat, the chickens did not have food and water. They must be so thirsty!! I ran outside… but the chickens were let out. I must have let them out and then went back to sleep and forgot about it. (I don’t like getting up at 7am, so most of the time after I let the chickens out, I do go back to sleep. But I wouldn’t have forgotten about it.)

I woke up IRL, afraid that I had actually overslept even though in the dream I didn’t actually oversleep, lol. It was 6:45am. I let the chickens out early. They did not even run to the water first, meaning they were fine, and not thirsty.
