I’m determined to finish off my “started reading months/years ago and didn’t finish” list, one of the books on the list is the second of six in the series (which, I hadn’t actually started reading, but I put it on the list after I finished the first; that doesn’t count, past me!), about an immortal guy (eternally looking like a teenage boy) whos name starts with a D, that keeps falling in love with the main character (an actual teenager), whos name has 4 letters, but she keeps getting killed and reincarnated, and despite being immortal and hundreds of years old the guy decides to go to highschool for some ridiculous reason (because I don’t know about you but if I was immortal going to highschool would be the last thing I would fucking do. Being stuck in highschool forever is the literal stuff of nightmares). So, stupid as fuck but I got into it and soon as I finished it I started reading the third.

I thought I got into this series (The Immortals) because there was a movie I saw based on it, which they planned to make a series of movies but it was unsuccessful.

I’m reading the third book and I’m like, [SPOILER] oh her maybe-other-love-interest is only showing up now, while they put him in the first movie? Or was the guy that showed up in the second book supposed to be the other guy in the first movie? And they can’t kiss/bang only becomes a thing in the third book but they put that in the first movie? (Because I didn’t remember much of the movie but I did remember: 1. there was two guys, 2. the ending very much looked like there should be a sequel, so I searched to find it, and there wasn’t one but I learned it was based on a book series and 3. They couldn’t kiss/bang or someone would die.)

So I went to figure out which guy was supposed to be the other guy in the movie. And I found that The Immortals does not have a movie at all. The author said years ago it was optioned for one but it never happened…

I’m like, whaaatt, I could have sworn I saw a movie of this, with that Australian guy in it, I couldn’t remember his name but I remembered he was in a movie with India Eisley (which is probably why/how I saw the movie; I watched an India Eisley movie, because I watch every India Eisley movie, and got recommended other movies with this guy in it).

So after some searching I figured out the guy I was thinking of is Harrison Gilbertson, and he was in a movie based on a WHOLE DIFFERENT SIX BOOK SERIES about an immortal guy (eternally looking like a teenage boy) whose name starts with a D, that keeps falling in love with the main character (an actual teenager), whose name has 4 letters, but she keeps getting killed and reincarnated (only in this case [spoiler] the girl dies when they kiss, while in The Immortals the guy is going to die if they exchange any body fluids), and despite being immortal and hundreds of years old the guy goes to highschool for some ridiculous reason. This one is called Fallen and I somehow have never read THOSE, though they are on my to-be-read list.

So how did I start reading this OTHER series then lol? Because it’s not a genre I would search out but I would see a corny movie, be unsatisfied by the end, realize it’s based on a book series and go “welp I have to read the books now to find out what happens to them”. Which is why the Fallen series is on my to-be-read list. (And which is also why I can’t stop reading this other series now, because I have to find out what happens to THESE immortal teenagers lol)

All of this to say… if I had a nickle for every time I found a six book series about an immortal guy (eternally looking like a teenage boy) whose name starts with a D, that keeps falling in love with the main character (an actual teenager), whose name has 4 letters, but she keeps getting killed and reincarnated, and they can’t kiss/bang or someone dies, and despite being immortal and hundreds of years old the guy goes to highschool for some ridiculous reason, I’d have two nickles. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
